Rosemary (Vivenzio) Sabatino's Obituary
Rosemary (Vivenzio) Sabatino, 99, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at James Square. She was born in Auburn, NY, daughter of the late Augustino and Agatha (Massimiano) Vivenzio.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Sabatino in 1992; her son, Gerard Sabatino and granddaughter, Gina Marie Bartolo; her sister, Philomena Vasco, and brothers, James, Peter, Rocco, and Fred.
Rosemary is survived by her son, Mark (Lorraine) Sabatino; her daughter, Ro Bartolo, six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Rosemary and her husband Ralph co-owned and operated Sabatino’s Silver Star Supermarket for many years. She worked side by side with her husband until his retirement in 1971.
As the matriarch of the family she was a hard worker both in the store and at home with little or no fanfare. She was “RoRo” to all and she spoiled everyone with her cooking and baking skills. Her famous Thursday night dinners were the mainstay of our family for many years. Rosemary was the happiest when there was a crowd around her table. She was loved by everyone and will truly be missed.
Rosemary was a faithful communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church in Syracuse.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, December 9, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Rosemary’s life at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
