S. Richard Simiele's Obituary
S. Richard Simiele, 78, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Loretto Nursing Home. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late Michael and Sophia (Pasco) Simiele. Richard served with the National Guard from 1957 to 1966. He was the owner and operator of Simiele Homes for over 40 years and past president of The Home Builders Association. Richard enjoyed fishing, trips to the casino and playing cards but most of all spending time with his granddaughters.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia F. (Seneca) Simiele; his daughter, Michele M. Simiele (Tracey McLaughlin) of New Hampshire and his son, Michael (Kelly) Simiele of Syracuse; two granddaughters, Sophia and Olivia Simiele; a sister, Phyllis Rao of Syracuse along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday from 9 to 10:45 am at St. Brigid & St. Joseph Church, 318 Herkimer Street, Syracuse with a funeral mass to follow at 11:00 am. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, 1654 West Onondaga Street, Syracuse, NY 13204.
