Salvatore "Sam" Bella's Obituary
Salvatore “Sam” Bella, 83, formerly of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, February 19, 2015. He was born in New York City and resided in the Syracuse area for over 60 years. Sam served with the U.S. Army in 1947. He was the owner and operator of North Salina Bakery for 20 years and then drove for Liverpool Transportation Division, retiring in 2011. Sam loved having family and friends at his table and always quoted, “Who’s Richer Than Me”.
He was predeceased by his parents, Giovanni and Concetta (LaTerra) Bella; his siblings, Larry Bella, Lena Vitanzo, Josie Chiaferi, Lucy Cirulli and John Bella.
Sam is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dolores (Camerota) Bella, “Forever and Always”; his son, John (Sue) Bella of Liverpool; his daughter, Deardria (Michael) Otis of Liverpool; eight grandchildren, Leah, Tiffany, David, Anthony, Nicolas, Davianna, Roman and Mirabella; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Connie Malara of Syracuse and Esther (Nucci) Grasso of Syracuse, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Sam’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Monday, February 23, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 2:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
