Salvatore "Sam" Calabrese's Obituary
Salvatore “Sam” Calabrese, 88 of Syracuse passed away April 17, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was born in Solicchiata, Sicilia, Italy and was a resident of Syracuse for 49 years. Salvatore was employed by the Syracuse Department of Public Works for 20 years.
He was predeceased by his Parents, Orazio and Concetta Calabrese, brothers, Benedetto and Carmelo, and sisters, Gaetana and Domenica.
Salvatore is survived by his beloved wife and caregiver of 65 years, Maria Catena (Spuches) Calabrese, his children Concetta (Carlo) Pastore, Maria (Gregg) Luzzi, and Orazio (Karen) Calabrese, his 7 grandchildren, Carlo (Jeannette) Pastore Jr., Dr. Paolo (Jennifer) Pastore, and Daniela (Ted) Klamm, Michael (Sara) Luzzi, and Michelle Luzzi, Ashley (Eric) Kieffer and Aimee Calabrese; 4 great grandchildren Joseph and Allison Pastore, Matthew and Nicholas Klamm and his sister Rosa and brother Giuseppe of Sicily along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Pompei / St. Peter Church; burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 21 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
