Salvatore "Sam" D'Arrigo's Obituary
Salvatore "Sam” D'Arrigo, 78, of Lakeland, FL, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2023, with his family by his side. Sam was born in Sicily, Italy to the late Carmelo and Anna (Citra) D’Arrigo.
Those that knew Sam knew that he was real tall in those characteristics that make us human. He had a great sense of humor that brightened the days of those with whom he came in contact; an optimism about life that was contagious and inspirational to those around him; a kindness evident in interactions with family, friends and strangers. His repertoire of jokes was legendary-he made us all laugh!
Sam had some tragedies in his life that would have derailed a lesser man. But he bore them with strength and dignity and then proceeded with living life. And he lived life. He was a participant, not just an observer. In his work, in his family near and extended, in small everyday activities, Sam found joy and shared that joy with all of us who knew him.
We are on this earth for a brief moment, and those of us who were fortunate to have known Sam have had our moment made brighter, happier, and a bit more joyous.
We will miss you much, Sam.
Along with his parents, Sam is predeceased by his wife, Jean (Sherwood); daughter, Deby D’Arrigo; and brothers, Vincent and Anthony D’Arrigo.
Sam is survived by his daughter, Denice D’Arrigo; son, Daniel (Heather) D’Arrigo; grandchildren, Darien Jean Bisson, and Anthony D’Arrigo; brother, Mario (Elena) D’Arrigo; sister-in-law, Jane D’Arrigo; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M., immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Sam’s life at 12:30 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sam’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
