Salvatore Mariano's Obituary
Salvatore Mariano, 89, of Syracuse, made his way to heaven on Monday, January 13, 2025, with his loving wife, Rosemary (Ippolito) and his eldest daughter, Mary Jeavons by his side. He was born in Syracuse to the late John and Maria “Mary” (La Macchia) Mariano.
Salvatore graduated from Eastwood High School, and he was a produce specialist for Acme Markets, Chicago Markets, and then retired from Peter’s Supermarkets. He was an active member of First Christian Assembly and Wellspring Family Life Church. Salvatore loved gardening, especially caring for his rose garden. He also enjoyed cooking, catering, and serving meals to his family and friends.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Santa Catania, Rose Cirino, Anna Stagnitta, Dominick, Anthony and Joseph Mariano.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 ½ years, Rosemary Mariano; his 5 children, Mary (Christa) Jeavons, Sherrie (Mark) Sterlace, Thomas (Stacy) Mariano, Valerie (Mark) Fedele, and Naomi (Cliff) Pruitt; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will take place on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. - 11:30 A.M. followed by a funeral service in celebration of Salvatore’s life at 11:30 A.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A private burial will take place in White Chapel Memory Gardens, Syracuse.
The family is very grateful for the excellent care Salvatore received at Loretto’s Fahey and 4th floor Cunningham facilities.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Salvatore’s name may be made to Syracuse Adult and Teen Challenge, 124 Furman Street, Syracuse, NY 13205 or a charity of one’s choice.
