Salvatore J. Nastasi's Obituary
Salvatore J. Nastasi, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New York City on November 22, 1925, the son of Carmelo and Antonina Nastasi. Salvatore graduated from Canastota High School as president of the senior class in 1944. He joined the U.S. Army in November, 1944, and then was a member of the first graduating class of Le Moyne College in 1951. Salvatore worked as a Registered Public Accountant for over 60 years, 40 of those self-employed.
Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his brothers, Thomas and Carmen; sister, Clara and grandchildren, Matthew Nastasi and Ashley English.
Salvatore is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Rose Mary (Kite) Nastasi; his children, Linda (Scott) English, John (Maureen) Nastasi, Gary Nastasi (Fiancée, Mary Kresser) and Teresa (Ben) Demmon; granddaughters, Maria Nastasi, Anna and Alyssa Demmon; several nieces and nephews.
A calling hour for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 9 am – 10 am at St. James Church, 4845 S. Salina St., Syracuse, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Salvatore’s life at 10 am. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Matthew J. Nastasi Scholarship Fund at Lafayette High School and/or Casey’s Place, c/o Elmcrest Children’s Center.
