Samuel R. "Rich" Alivero's Obituary
Samuel R. "Rich" Alivero, 66, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully Monday at home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Syracuse and was a graduate of Henninger High School. Rich joined the U.S. Air Force Reserves where he learned his trade before owning and operating his businesses, Midstate Refrigeration and Air Conditioning and East Syracuse Bottle and Can Return. He was also a supervisor at P & C Maintenance Department for over 15 years. Rich looked forward to and loved the New York State Fair, where for 16 years, he owned and operated "Alivero's at the Fair". His favorite holiday was Christmas and every year he specialized in his Christmas productions, where he played Santa. Rich was also an avid Dirt Bike enthusiast.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Alivero and Frances (DeSalto) Alivero and his infant daughter, Victoria Kathleen Alivero. Rich is survived by his wife, Margaret (Leskoske) Alivero; his three daughters, Alicia Alivero of Syracuse, Monica (Anthony) Bova of Camillus, and Heather Alivero of Rochester; two grandchildren, Victoria Alivero and Jack Bova; his longtime companion, Jo Ann Casciano of East Syracuse; two brothers, Michael (Patricia) Alivero and Nicholas Sorar, both of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins, including his special nephew, Michael B. Alivero.
Rich's family would like to thank all of his closest and dearest friends for their help, especially over the past few months.
A funeral mass in celebration of Rich's life will be held at 9:00 am in St. Matthew's Church, East Syracuse. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
