Samuel A. Mezzo's Obituary
Samuel A. Mezzo, 83, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2022. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late Samuel and Philomena “Fannie” (Pistilli) Mezzo. Samuel graduated from North High School and was a state ranked athlete in football. Later in life, he enjoyed coaching for the Eastwood Bears where he loved connecting with the kids. He also enjoyed fishing and taking care of camp; he found both very soothing. Samuel was employed as a Heat Treat Technician for Chrysler Corporation, retiring after 35 dedicated years.
He is survived by his wife of 50+ years, Maria (Mandarino) Mezzo; three children, Sherry (Robert) Bouchard, Josh (Lisa) Mezzo and Ross Mezzo; five grandchildren; and his brother, Mark (Karen) Mezzo, along with several nieces and nephews.
Samuel’s family would like to express a special thank you to the women that cared for him and allowed him to live at home, also to the caregivers at Loretto that did a wonderful job.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 from 9:45 – 10:45 am at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY, immediately followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Samuel’s life at 11:00 am. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Samuels’ name to the Arthritis Foundation, PO Box 96280, Washington DC 20077 or a favorite local charity of choice.
