On March 6, 2025, Sandra Jean Samora passed away at the age of 77. Sandra was residing in St. Augustine, FL, but her heart and her home were in Syracuse, NY. A devout Catholic, she was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero, NY.
Sandra was born in Syracuse to Joseph and Edith (Emmediato) Fiori on March 14, 1947.
She was a graduate of North High, and married and raised her family in Syracuse, where she cultivated lifelong friendships along the way. Nothing was more important to Sandra than her family and friends, to whom she gave her all. It is often said of Sandra, with enormous love and affection, that she always put the needs of those she loved before her own. Her life was truly lived in service of others, and she left a profound impact on everyone whose life she touched. The children of her lifelong friends refer to her as their “Aunt Sandy” and have wonderful memories that span a lifetime.
Sandra worked for the City of Syracuse in the Department of Finance for 35 years before retiring and dedicating herself to those who needed her. Everyone always knew that Sandy was “just a phone call away”.
Sandra was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Edith; brother Carl, son-in-law Steve, and her loving Aunts, Philomena (Fanny), Gilda (Gil), Clara and Norma.
Sandra is survived by her son, Donald (Ashley) Samora; daughter, Danielle LeClair; granddaughters, Giovanna and Mattea; grandson, Joshua (Taylor), former spouse, Donald Samora, several loving cousins, family members, and friends who she held so dear to her heart.
A funeral Mass in celebration of Sandra’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, 301 Ash St., Syracuse, NY. She will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
