Shane Nelson's Obituary
Shane Nelson, 52, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2023, at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY.
Shane was born on January 10, 1971, in Syracuse, New York. He was the son of the late Betty Nelson (Goldthwait) and Reginald Nelson Jr. He was a 1989 graduate of East Syracuse-Minoa High School and soon after began his career at United Parcel Service (UPS) where he was a dedicated and respected employee for over thirty years. Anyone receiving a delivery was just as happy to see Shane as they were to be receiving their package.
In addition to his parents, Shane was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joseph Tocci. Shane is survived by his loving wife Michele (Tocci), stepson Dallas Adams, brother Scott Nelson, sister Tina Barnell (Nelson), mother-in-law Marianne Tocci, sister-in-law Jessica Purvis (Tocci), brothers-in-law Lance Purvis, Jeffrey Tocci, and Jeff Barnell, seven nieces and nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews.
Shane was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He cherished spending time with the people he loved and his precious chocolate lab puppy, River. Shane was a diehard Buffalo Bills, Syracuse University basketball, and KISS fan, rarely missing a game or concert. He loved music and always had something upbeat playing in the background. As an avid golfer, one of his proudest achievements was hitting a hole in one. Shane was truly an incredible, positive, and fun-loving soul. He emanated joy and lit up every room he entered. His smile and laugh will be forever etched in the hearts of those who loved him.
The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the compassionate doctors and nurses of Roswell Park for their perseverance, support, and loving care.
