Sherry Ann (Austin) Payment's Obituary
Sherry Ann (Austin) Payment of Syracuse, NY passed away peacefully with her loving son Ryan by her side on June 20, 2022, after a brave battle with multiple myeloma. Sherry was born in Gouverneur, NY on December 2, 1946, to Grant and Inelda (Cox) Austin, where she grew up and graduated from Gouverneur High School.
Sherry went on to graduate from North Country Community College with a degree in radiologic technology and from Canton ATC with a degree in early childhood education. She married Donald Payment in 1973, and they resided in Liverpool, NY. Born with cerebral palsy, Sherry led a courageous life managing her career and family.
She especially enjoyed being a member of SRC Salt City Riders Club and greatly relished the annual rides through the New England region, New Hampshire, Vermont, Pennsylvania, Catskills, NY and around the Great Lakes. She also valued the winters she and her husband spent in Florida.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and her brother, Alvin Austin. She is survived by son, Ryan Payment; daughter, Nicole Peters; eight grandchildren; her sister, Valorie Foy of Crete, NE; and her sister-in-law, Julie Austin of Newry, ME and Hammond, NY; and their families.
Family and friends may call on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME 3401 Vickery Rd. (Corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212 immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Sherry Ann’s life at 7pm in the funeral home. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sherry’s memory may be made to the March of Dimes, an organization that helped Sherry as she grew up while managing the effects of cerebral palsy.
