Shirley Irene (Daley) Chajkowski's Obituary
Shirley Irene (Daley) Chajkowski, 89, of Liverpool, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Upstate Community Hospital, with her loving family by her side.
Shirley was born in Syracuse, NY, on September 30, 1935, the daughter of the late William Daley and the late Doris Moore. She graduated from Vocational High School in 1953.
On October 4, 1958, she was joined in marriage to Robert E. Chajkowski, Sr. in St. Lucy’s Church Syracuse, NY.
Shirley was employed with the Liverpool Central School District for over four decades before retiring in 2021. She truly enjoyed her job and the many special people she worked with throughout her years of service.
Shirley was an avid bowler for many years and a parishioner and volunteer of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Her family will hold fond memories in their hearts of her chocolate chip cookies, her love of sunny days and moonlit nights and her annual New Year's Day parties. Mom also loved Ocean City, MD, the NY Yankees, Syracuse University Men’s and Women’s Basketball, holidays spent with her family and her many years of cheering from the sidelines at her children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Most of all, our Mom and Grandma loved her family unconditionally and was so proud of all of them and their accomplishments.
Shirley was predeceased by her sisters, Janice Bruce, Patricia Kobus, Sandra Hourigan, and her brother, William Daley, Jr.
Surviving are her beloved and cherished family, her husband of 66 years, Robert E. Chajkowski, Sr. and her children, son, Robert Jr. (Helen) of Baldwinsville, NY, daughter, Laurie of Liverpool, NY, son, Frank (Lisa) of North Syracuse, NY, son, Don (Melanie) of Liverpool, NY. She will be dearly missed by her deeply loved six grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Wesley, Sabrina, Jacob and Adam. Shirley is also survived by her dear sisters-in-law, Carol Pudney and Joanne Czajkowski, and several nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful care provided to our Mom by her physician, Dr. Gary Freeman, and the staff at Upstate Community Hospital (3 West), as well as several family members and friends. She will be deeply missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday, March 21, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road, (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse, NY 13212. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 9:30am at Epiphany Parish, (formerly St. Joseph the Worker) 1001 Tulip Street, Liverpool, NY 13088. Burial to follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, 8668 County Rte. 57, Baldwinsville, NY 13027.
