Shirley A. Galvin's Obituary
Shirley A. (Altenbrand) Galvin, of North Syracuse, passed away Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Helen (Turo) and George Altenbrand. Shirley loved watching SU Basketball and spending time with her family. For the past 37 years she enjoyed spending weekends at her summer home in Cape Vincent, NY.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Edward F. Galvin, Sr., her five children, Rev. Dn. Edward F. (Debbie) Galvin, Jr. of Syracuse, Mary Galvin of North Syracuse, Kelly (Ron) Hayes of Cato, NY, Kristen (Guido) Misia of Jamesville, and Karen Kovacs of Clay, NY; six grandchildren, Natalie (Jon) Wilson, Julie (Robert) Shooshan, Andrew Kovacs, Deanna Petersen, Hunter Hayes, and Tanner Hayes; five great-grandchildren, Addison, Gavin, and Piper Wilson, Michael and Matthew Shooshan.
Shirley’s family would like to extend a heartfelt “thank you” to Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. for their special care over the past six months.
A funeral mass in celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Margaret’s Church, Mattydale. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse.
