Shirley A. (Voorhees) Hart's Obituary
Shirley A. (Voorhees) Hart, 76, of Clay, NY, passed away peacefully at Francis House surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. She was born in Oneonta, NY and graduated from Oneonta High School and later received her Associates degree from Albany Business College. Shirley was employed for several years with Ford Motor Company in Latham and later went on to work at Church World Service in Syracuse for over 20 years. She enjoyed reading fiction novels, cross-stitching, quilting and physical fitness. Shirley loved animals, especially her pets, her beloved Shelties and cats. She was very fond and up to date with current musicians; she had a great love for country music.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Beatrice (Crandall) Voorhees; her brother, Vern Voorhees, and was like a daughter to her late in-laws, John and Vivian.
Shirley is survived by her devoted husband of 47 years, David M. Hart; two sons, Michael Hart and Andrew Hart; very close nephew, Steve Voorhees and his beloved family.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral service in celebration of Shirley’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Pitcher Hill Community Church, 605 Bailey Rd., North Syracuse, NY. Interment with a graveside service will be in Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneida St., Oneonta, NY, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 11:00 am.
