Shirley M. (Jones) Cupoli's Obituary
Shirley M. (Jones) Cupoli passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in Burleson, TX. She believed that if you do good all your life, you go to a far better place. She left in the arms of her handsome prince, joining all the others who left before her. Aunt Jennie has rolls for her to slice!
Shirley was born in Fort Meade, Maryland and grew up in Fort Holabird. All she ever wanted was to marry a soldier and be an Army Mom. She did, and so she was, and an excellent one, at that. “Five Stars”!!
Our years at Fort Bliss, Texas were truly idyllic. She taught us to love people of all colors or you will miss out on a lot. And “you ALWAYS let someone use your bathroom”.
She never had a bad word to say about anyone and was beloved by all who were lucky enough to know her. Shirley never judged anyone by their circumstances and gave everyone a chance. She left her heart print everywhere she went.
Shirley resided in Liverpool, NY from 1964-2013. She enjoyed her TOPS group of dear neighborhood friends, and they met for 20 years. It was there she learned to crochet her famous dishcloths- gifts that are still cleaning lint free kitchens coast to coast.
Shirley was honorable in every way, loyal and all about family. She was beyond book smart, wise without college, without technology. She was PRESENT and in the moment. And lightyears ahead of her time, she was contented with her life.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, b. Jessica Cupoli (John Tonkin) and Ada Pomeroy. After her beloved sister Ada’s untimely passing, Shirley stepped up to help raise our other brothers and sisters, the Olszewski children: Eddie, Joyce, Stephen, Stanley, Tish and Rainee. She never missed a birthday, holiday, or special event. We all grew up together.
Shirley is also survived by her sisters, Evelyn Shilling (Frank), and Norma McDonald, her grandchildren, Chelsea Peck (Tad), Cody Tonkin and Zachary (Christal) Pomeroy; 8 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her favorite dentist in the USA, Daniel S. Dell’Uomo DDS, PhD
who she credited with saving her beautiful smile. Lastly, her special mechanic, Mike Ventura, who sipped tea with her and kept her vehicle in tip top shape, so she never had to worry.
At her request, there will be no calling hours. In her memory, be kind to a child, smile and say hello to a stranger, eat plenty of dark chocolate and enjoy every day to the max.
She will be greatly missed.
A private graveside service for family members will be held in September, where she will be reunited with her husband Charles, in “Cupoli Row”.
Donations may be made to HumaneCNY Association or a charity of one's choice.
