Stanley S. Backus, Jr.'s Obituary
With tears on our hearts, the family of Stanley S. Backus, Jr. announces his passing on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at the age of 79. He was born in Watertown, NY, son of the late Stanley and Leona (Roshia) Backus. Stanley was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired as a Bridge Maintenance Supervisor with the New York State Department of Transportation after many years.
Stanley is predeceased by two sisters, Edithe Greene and Mary Jane Conlin; two brothers, Robert and Roy Backus.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Frances L. (Harrington) Backus and his only child, Stanley S. Backus III (Lori Douglas); his two adored grandchildren, Melody and Stanley (Cory) Backus IV; three great-grandsons, Teddy, Jax and Asher; his sister, Ms. Brenda Dattolo, along with several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2019 from 9 am – 11:30 am, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Stanley’s life at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. Burial will take place in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville.
