"Sue" Lucy R. (Lewis) Pirro's Obituary
“Sue” Lucy R. (Lewis) Pirro, 85, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was a lifelong resident of Onondaga County and a graduate of Lafayette High School. She held positions at Loblaws grocery store and Key Bank, and an administrative assistant to Pirro Brothers Ford and Dave Pirro Ford. Sue was a tireless community volunteer for St. Cecilia’s Church, School and Food Pantry, the Food Bank of CNY, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and a costume seamstress for many of her children’s dance and theater productions. She was selflessly devoted to her husband, children and grandchildren, supporting each of their endeavors and encouraging all of their best talents. Sue and her husband travelled all over the world, but she especially enjoyed Sunday pasta dinners and summers on Tuscarora Lake with her family. She was active in the Solvay Seniors and golfed as a member of Westvale and Highland Woods golf courses. Sue’s family sincerely thanks everyone on Loretto 13 for the exceptional care they provided to her.
Sue was predeceased by her parents, Harley and Lillian Lewis, her loving husband Michael D. (“Mike”), her son David, and her sisters Jennie (Charles) Walburger and Marjorie (Paul) Kelly.
She is survived by her children Michele (Thomas) Bailey, Laurie (William) Smiley, Jeffrey (Lisa) Pirro and daughter-in-law Ellen Pirro; grandchildren Kevin and Claire Bailey, Bryan and Wesley Smiley, Adam and Alexander Pirro, Jessica and Emily Pirro; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Sue’s life will be held at 11:30 am on Friday, November 12, 2021 at St. Marianne Cope Parish at St. Cecilia’s Church, 1001 Woods Rd., Syracuse, NY. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. At the request of the family, please wear a mask.
