Sue M. (Zoccali) Tortora's Obituary
Sue M. Tortora, 98, of Syracuse, joined her husband of 76 years in God's loving arms on Sunday, February 18, 2024, under the watchful eye of her loving family. Born in Syracuse to the late Anthony and Theresa Zoccali, Sue was one of four daughters who grew up speaking both Italian and English. At the end of WWII, she married the love of her life, Patrick, and for more than seven decades shared love, life, family and all of his shenanigans.
Sue worked in the retail industry in Syracuse but throughout her life her passion was her family. She had the gift of hospitality and always welcomed people at all hours of the day or night and made them feel special. She will continue to be an inspiration of love and her life will remain a gentle guide to her three children.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husband, Patrick C. “Doc” Tortora in 2021 and her sisters, Mary Montleone and Nancy Sullivan.
Sue is survived by her children, Patrick Tortora (Shelly), Suzanne Lively (Larry) and Cindy Hunter (John). She was affectionately known as "Nana" to her grandchildren, Dana Chiodo (Mike), Brian Lively (Dana) and Anthony Tortora, as well as her five great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Norma DiMauro, and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and aides at both Upstate Hospital and Crouse Community Center for their careful care.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 from 4 – 7 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd, (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
