Susan J. (DeSantis) Ficarro's Obituary
Susan J. (DeSantis) Ficarro, 103, of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 31, 2015. She was born in Canastota, NY, the daughter of the late Vincenzo James and Bianca Maria (Saraceni) DeSantis. She lived in Syracuse most of her life until relocating to Florida in 2007. Retiring from the Syracuse Stamping Company in 1977, she was devoted to her family and enjoyed playing cards, other games of chance, reading, crocheting, watching classic movies and was an avid follower of Syracuse University sports.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul J. Ficarro in 1980; her oldest son, Robert C. Ficarro in 2008; nine siblings, James, Louis, Joseph, John and Stephen DeSantis, Josephine Grosso, Frances Finochio, Mary D’Agostino and Molly Tucci. Sadly, as the last of ten children, “Susie’s” death marks the end of an era for the DeSantis family.
Susan left behind a large and loving legacy. She is survived by her three sons, Joseph P. (Nancy, deceased) Ficarro of Yardley, PA; Paul J. (Mia) Ficarro of Bradenton, FL and John R. (Mary Beth) Ficarro of Pinehurst, NC; her two daughters, Ann L. (Vincent, deceased) Luciano of Terrell, TX; Marilyn M. (Robert) Stone of Columbus, OH and her daughter-in-law, Delia (Robert) Ficarro of North Syracuse, NY. She had 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and is also survived by her sister-in-law, Rose (John) DeSantis, along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Susan’s life at 11:00 am at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Syracuse. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, June 8, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
