Susan Marie (Francey) Jakubowski's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Marie (Francey) Jakubowski, a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to love, family and education. She departed this world on October 26, 2023.
Born in Syracuse on January 24, 1951, Susan dedicated her life to her family, the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of her community. She was a loving mother, an esteemed educator, and a tireless advocate for the causes she held dear.
Susan found her life’s greatest joy and companion in her husband Jeffrey Jakubowski, a bond that began as childhood friends. Susan was a constant source of love and happiness to Jeffrey. Their 52-year marriage is a wonderful example of enduring love. Susan was the heart of their home, and her memory will forever be a guiding light for Jeffrey.
Susan’s support, guidance, and unwavering love for her children, Melissa (David) Braun, Jeffrey Jakubowski and Andy Jakubowski was endless. To her grandchildren, Kelsey Braun, Hayden Braun, Evelyn Jakubowski, Louis Jakubowski and Stanley Jakubowski, she was a beloved grandma. She is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth Francey; sisters, Anne (Wayne) Nowakowski and Mary (Randy) Hamblin; sister-in-law, Joyce (David) Sawyer and many nieces and nephews.
Susan is predeceased by her father, Arthur Francey and brother, Donald Francey.
Her home was always filled with love and warmth, where family gatherings and celebrations were a testament to her nurturing spirit. Susan was the heart of every holiday. Her warmth, kindness, and amazing ability to host a gathering were the cornerstones of her family’s life.
As an educator with the Syracuse City School District for 24 years, Susan touched the lives of countless students. Her passion for teaching, combined with her dedication to fostering a love of learning, left an indelible mark on those she taught. Many former students have gone on to achieve great success, crediting her guidance and mentorship.
In the community, Susan was a force for positive change. She dedicated her time and energy to various advocacy and charitable organizations, working tirelessly to make the world a better place for all.
Susan leaves behind a legacy of love, knowledge, and community spirit that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, students, and the community she served.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 10 – 11:45 am, followed by a funeral service in celebration of Susan’s life at 12 pm at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
