Susan (Chiarenza) Smith's Obituary
Susan (Chiarenza) Smith, 67, of Westvale, passed away Tuesday, September 16th at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. Susan was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She was admired for her strength, perseverance, selfless giving nature, and unique spirit, sense of humor and ability to make people laugh even in the roughest of times. Susan was a graduate of Westhill High School and worked for the Town of Geddes for 14 years until her retirement in 2012.
She is predeceased by her daughter, Kristy; parents, Antonio and Josephine Chiarenza, and sister, Fran Storrings.
Susan is survived by her two loving daughters, Jennifer Abreu (Willie) of North Carolina and Tracey Fisher (Steve) of Westvale; grandchildren, Nathan and Mia Fisher, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the amazing and supportive staff on the Bone Marrow Transplant and Oncology Unit at Upstate Medical Center University as well as the staff at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The compassionate care given to our mother in her time of need was unparalleled.
Funeral services will be held at 9:45 am on Saturday at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral mass in celebration of Susan’s life at 11:00 am at Holy Family Church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Warners, NY. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
