Suzanne Dawn Eisinger's Obituary
Suzanne Dawn Eisinger passed away on January 9, 2017 while stationed at the Naval Support Base in Millington, TN at the age of 40.
Sue was born on July 12, 1976 in Syracuse, NY to Mr. and Mrs. Howard and Eileen Eisinger. Sue graduated from Chittenango High School in 1994 and attended Canisius College before enlisting in the U.S. Navy at age nineteen.
In the Navy, Sue specialized as a sonar technician and rose through the ranks to become a respected, dedicated, and loved Senior Chief Petty Officer. In this role, many knew her as an unflappable seasoned leader, skilled colleague, mentor, second "mom" and loyal friend. Sue served onboard many naval ships, including her most recent (the USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG-81)) where many of her friends continue to serve and her cutouts of inspirational military quotes remain posted on its walls. Sue dedicated her life to military service and proudly served in domestic and global deployments, including in Africa and the Middle East where she volunteered as a member of the Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa in Yemen.
In addition to her military accomplishments and friendships, Sue was well-known for her sharp wit, her quick readiness with a joke, her passion for Syracuse sports and her pets and her always, fun-loving attitude. Sue will be forever missed and loved beyond words by her surviving siblings, Michael Eisinger, Timothy Eisinger, Kimberly Eisinger and Neleen Rubin, and her nieces and nephews.
Sue’s funeral service is scheduled for Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10:00 AM at the Manlius United Methodist Church (111 Wesley Street, Manlius, NY). A procession to the Lafayette Rural Cemetery (Rt-11, Lafayette, NY) will immediately follow the church service and then a lunch gathering will follow at Santangelo’s Restaurant (673 Old Liverpool Road, Liverpool, NY) beginning at 12:45 PM.
All are welcome to attend the church, cemetery and lunch gatherings.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Sue’s memory to The Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037.
