Suzanne (Sindoni) Honold's Obituary
Suzanne Sindoni Honold, 69, of Fayetteville and Skaneateles passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at Crouse Hospital.
Born April 27, 1943 in Syracuse to Joseph J. Sindoni and Angela Mirabile Sindoni, Suzanne was a lifelong resident of Onondaga County who devoted her life to the community and to her beloved family. Suzanne remained close throughout her life with her childhood friends including Don Crossett, Carol Ann Damico, Roseanne and Bob DeFabio, Mary Anne Giacobbi, Merrilee Goffredo, Mike Koagel, Eileen Oliva, and Marsha Place - as well as their spouses and children.
In 1961 Suzanne graduated Saint John the Baptist School where she was Vice-President of her senior class. That same year, she met her husband-to-be during their first week at LeMoyne College, where both later graduated in 1965 and Suzanne was President of the Bishop Foery Club. She received a Master’s in Education from Syracuse University in 1969. Suzanne taught English at West Genesee High School for eight years, English and Reading at St. Daniel’s School for two years, and at the Gingerbread House Pre-School for three years.
Her countless volunteer endeavors included 30 years of work at Crouse Hospital as a patient advocate, in the gift shop, on the Auxiliary Board, and as Chair of the “Lights of Love” campaign and Benefit Fashion Shows. Suzanne was also Chairwoman of the St. Thomas Moore 50th Anniversary Benefit and at the Fayetteville Library. At Immaculate Conception School she served as Chair of the School Board and Athletic Director, and was Chair of the LaSallian Dinner Auction at Christian Brothers Academy where her husband and children are graduates. Suzanne was a Member of the Corinthian Club, and her extensive volunteer service also included the Catholic Neumann House at Syracuse University, the United Way, and the Everson Museum.
Suzanne is survived by her devoted husband of 42 years, Dr. David J. Honold. Together with David, her life’s true passion was raising their three loving children: David “D.J.” Honold of Chester Springs, PA; Robert “Bobby” Honold of Washington, DC; and Kathryn “Kathy” Hardy of Norwalk, CT. Suzanne enthusiastically welcomed into the family her daughter-in-law, Melissa in 2004 and her son-in-law, John in 2006. The past five years were marked by Suzanne’s complete adoration for her four grandchildren: Elizabeth Honold, Joseph Honold, Alexandra Hardy and Andrew Hardy.
Also surviving are her sister and friend, Catherine S. Ranieri; her loving brother, John P. Sindoni; and nine nieces and nephews including her goddaughter, Christine Ranieri Vickers. She developed profound friendships with her caretakers, including Janice Falco, Kada Nodine, and Marge Terzini. Suzanne was known to be the life of the party - and cherished her time and celebrations with her family and friends, especially the Barrett family.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Thomas. J. Pirro, Jr. Funeral Home: 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), North Syracuse. A Catholic funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Church in DeWitt. Entombment will follow nearby at St. Mary’s Mausoleum.
