Sylvester "Sal" Campese's Obituary
Sylvester "Sal" Campese, 84, of Liverpool passed away on Saturday at State University Hospital. A life resident of Syracuse, he served with the US Navy during WWII and participated in the Invasion of Normandy. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church. Sal was employed with Prestolite for over 42 years, retiring in 1988. He was predeceased by his wife, Grace Campese in 1983; his parents, Michael and Margaret (Nuzzo) Campese and his brother, Mickey Campese. Sal is survived by his 2 daughters, Marge Campese of Syracuse and Elaine (Michael) DeLair of Liverpool; 3 grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Campese, Joseph (Kelly) DeLair and Paul DeLair; 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler Hayes, Dante Campese, Isabella and Frankie DeLair; 2 sisters, Ursula Donofrio and Carolyn (James) Cangemi, both of Syracuse; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 8:00 AM in the Thomas J. Pirro Funeral Home and 9:00 AM in Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM.
