Symeon P. Pappas' Obituary
Symeon P. Pappas, 86, of Liverpool, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Florina, Greece and came to the United States in his 20’s. Symeon founded Pappas Bakery on Old Liverpool Rd. in 1970 and operated it together with his wife, Vasiliki for 32 years. He enjoyed gardening and loved hunting with his son, nephew and other family members. Family meant everything to Symeon and he spent as much time as he could with them.
He was predeceased by his parents, Pavlos and Fannie (Shiomos) Pappas and two sisters, Sophia Merakis and Evangelina Mazaris.
Symeon is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Vasiliki (Christou) Pappas; his three children, Helen (Robert) Pappas-Bonilla of West Monroe, Christine (Z) Klapan of Liverpool and Dean (Helen) Pappas of Liverpool; four grandchildren, Crystal (Tyler) Swanson, Alexia Klapan, Sammy and Selena Pappas; two sisters, Anastasia (Gus) Ioannidis of Liverpool and Katina Dellios of Australia, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Symeon’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 5, 2015 at St. Sophia’s Greek Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm on Monday at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
