Tarrance "Tarry" (Allen) Nestico's Obituary
Tarrance “Tarry” (Allen) Nestico, 88, passed away Saturday night, March 22, 2025, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area and worked at several fine dining establishments throughout the years. Most notably, she was the owner and operator of Tarry’s Restaurant in Downtown Syracuse. She enjoyed traveling and cooking, and was an avid reader, and master of trivia. In fact, she often could be found completing her weekly crossword puzzle in pen. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith and truly saw beauty in all of God’s creation, especially lilies and robins in the Spring. She was a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and especially the New York Yankees. That being said, Tarry’s favorite pastime by far was spending time with those she loved. This is especially true of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were her entire world. She loved unconditionally and brightened countless lives with humor, grace, and kindness. There are no words to convey how much she will be missed.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Jackie Vassallo in 2003, as well as her parents, Carl and Jackie Allen, and her brother, Richard Allen, Sr.
She is survived by her three sons: Joseph A. Vassallo (Angeleen Haley), Michael J. Larca and John A. Larca. She leaves behind nine grandchildren: Jackie (Ron), Nicole (Paul), Rebecca, Tarrance (Scott), Hannah (Chris), Marie, Haley, Zachary, and Sarah. She had six great-grandchildren: Addison, Aubree, Ava, Lainey, Evelyn, Joey, and one more on the way. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Louise Allen, and a host of nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gary Freeman of West Taft Family Care for his exceptional care and compassion.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025 from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Tarry’s life at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
