Teresa (Scerbo) Froio's Obituary
Teresa (Scerbo) Froio, 93, of Syracuse, passed away Tuesday at Crouse Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Marcellinara, Italy to Dominick and Maria (Combe) Scerbo. Teresa has resided in the Syracuse area since 1951 and was employed as a seamstress with Dey Brothers for many years.
Teresa was a devoted, loving parent to her only child whom she struggled to give every advantage in life to travel and achieve higher education: despite the fact her husband of 17 years passed when their daughter was only 11 years old. She was a devout woman of faith who always would say in times of difficulties, don't worry, "God will provide." Her favorite viewing show was the catholic channel EWTN and never missed the showing of the Chaplet of The Divine Mercy and prayed fervently the Rosary each evening. She enjoyed visiting family and enjoyed watching the children play.
She was predeceased by her husband , Saverio Froio in 1967, a one day old son, Carmen Froio in 1952 and several brothers and sisters. Teresa is survived by her only child, Maria Froio; her step-son James F. (Rosa) Froio and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews of Syracuse, Italy and Argentina.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in Holy Family Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the Thomas J. Pirro Jr. Funeral Home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
