Theresa M. (Balestra) Pierce's Obituary
Theresa M. (Balestra) Pierce, 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. She was a graduate of Central High School and Central City Business Institute. Theresa loved music and singing; she began singing at an early age in the choir at St. Brigid Church. She did this for many years, later singing at Blessed Sacrament Church. Theresa was past president of The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary, where she was a very active member. She was also a member of the Syracuse Turners Honorary Women’s Group and a former member of the Town of Geddes Senior Group.
Theresa worked for five years at the R.E. Dietz Company as executive secretary for Gerry Dietz. After marriage, she was secretary at the Syracuse Board of Education for five years and later became school secretary at Charles Andrews School for 20 years. She retired from Porter School after another five years for a total of 30 years of service.
Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Edward in 2006 and her sister, Margaret Cipriano.
She is survived by her brother, Albert (Ida); her sister, Helen; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
