Theresa Brigid (Griffin) Capria's Obituary
Theresa Brigid (Griffin) Capria, 57, of North Syracuse, passed away on January 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Syracuse to Michael and Mary (McNamara) Griffin, Theresa was a beacon of warmth and love to all who knew her.
Theresa built a successful career as a Senior Claims Adjuster for North American Risk Services, where her professionalism and kindness left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients alike. However, her greatest joy in life was her family, particularly cheering on her beloved daughter, Lilly, as she excelled in track and field at CNS High School and LeMoyne College. Theresa’s unwavering pride and encouragement were a testament to her boundless love as a mother.
She cherished life’s adventures, travels, and trying new cuisines alongside her devoted husband, Dave. Sharing meals together was one of their favorite pastimes, especially supporting local restaurants in the Syracuse area.
Theresa’s compassionate spirit extended beyond her family. She had a special gift for making everyone feel valued and welcomed, whether it was through her relationships with friends, her close-knit extended family, or her care for animals. Her kindness, laughter, and selflessness touched the lives of many.
Theresa is predeceased by her father, Michael Griffin, whose memory she carried lovingly throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband, David A. Capria; her cherished daughter, Lilly Capria; her mother, Mary Griffin; her siblings, Ann (Frederick) Staub, Elizabeth (Michael) O’Connor, and Michael (Kristine) Griffin; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and treasured friends.
A funeral Mass celebrating Theresa’s extraordinary life will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 10, 2025, at St. Patrick/St. Brigid Church, 216 N. Lowell Ave., Syracuse. Theresa will be laid to rest at Assumption Cemetery at a later date. Family and friends are invited to call from 3:30 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.), North Syracuse, NY 13212. A time for shared remembrances will follow.
Theresa’s family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate staff at St. Joseph’s Hospital Emergency Room and MICO for their care during her final days.
In addition to flowers, contributions may be made to Friends Forever Animal Rescue, 174 Gristwood Road, Pennellville, NY 13212, in honor of Theresa’s love for animals and her generous heart.
