Theresa (Dewey) Wichert's Obituary
Theresa (Dewey) Wichert was promoted to glory on the evening of June 22, 2023. She was born in Syracuse on January 15, 1936, the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Rider) Dewey. Theresa was raised on Tipperary Hill, graduating from St. Patrick's School in 1954 and attended Oswego College. She married Gerard "Jerry" Wichert on January 14, 1956. Her work career included Niagara Mohawk, Scuiga Construction, Scotsman Press, Blue Cross/Blue Shield Medicare, and Pace at Malta House. She was a "gramma" girl scout leader in the Lyncourt Service Unit.
She is predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Rita Visconti, MaryEllen Dean and Loretta "Lorie" Suman.
Theresa is survived by her 4 children, Barbara Marleau, Gerard "Bud" Wichert, Jr., Karen (James) Hockenbery and Brian Wichert; her grandchildren, Thomas Marleau, Renee (Chris) Boyer, Zachary Wichert, Amy (Julian) Jennings, Andrew (Abbie) Hockenbery, Adam (Victoria) Hockenbery, Bryan Richard Wichert and Taylor Wichert, along with several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Her first love was her saviour, Jesus Christ. She attended Living Word Church, serving over the years in the orchestra, nursery and Water of Life Newsletter.
Calling hours will be held at Living Word Family Worship Center, 6101 Court Street Rd., Syracuse, NY 13206 on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M., followed by a funeral service in celebration of Theresa’s life at 11:30 A.M. in the church. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.
