Therese (Ryan) Liquori's Obituary
Therese (Ryan) Liquori, 95, of North Syracuse, died on December 24, 2023, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
Born in Tupper Lake, NY, on September 28, 1928, she was the daughter of the late William and Alberta (Devlin) Ryan. Therese was raised in Utica and attended Utica Free Academy before graduating from Thomas W. Procter High School in that area. Her family fondly remembers her as a great storyteller with lively personal accounts of growing up on Brinkerhoff Avenue. She had an artistic nature, acting in plays in her early years, and she possessed a unique fashion and interior design sense. In 1956, Therese married F. Joseph Liquori of Syracuse, NY, and settled in North Syracuse to raise her family. She was a loving mother who cared deeply for her three daughters. She later graduated from the former Maria Regina College in Syracuse. Her husband, F. Joseph, predeceased her in 2015.
Therese was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, serving on the Altar and Rosary Society as a young woman.
She worked for the Hancock Field Air Force Base as a Housing Referral Officer for many years. In this capacity, she was responsible for finding military personnel suitable off-site housing in which to live. She hosted and spoke at numerous luncheons on behalf of the Base and was particularly adept at bringing people from different walks of life together to further mutual needs. In 1981, Therese was honored as Federal Woman’s Program Coordinator of the Year.
Therese was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and William Ryan, Jr.
Surviving are her three daughters, Lisa Liquori and her husband Thomas McIndoe of North Syracuse, NY, Andra Liquori of Cicero, NY, and Donna (Perri) Kirsch and husband Kenneth Kirsch of Bedford, NY; and four nieces.
The family wishes to thank Therese’s caregivers at the Cottages at Garden Grove for the kindness and care they provided in Therese’s last years.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a funeral Mass in celebration of Therese’s life at 11:00 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
