Thomas Henry Burke's Obituary
Thomas Henry Burke, 91, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at Elderwood at Liverpool with his companion, Mary, by his side. Tom was born on July 15, 1934, in Buffalo, NY to the late Thomas H. and Helen A. Burke and graduated from Canisius High School in Buffalo and the University of Buffalo School of Engineering. After college he went on to work a successful career as an Electrical Engineer for several companies, with most of his time being spent with General Electric and its successor companies in Syracuse, finally retiring from Lockheed Martin in 1996. He was also a registered Professional Engineer in the States of Indiana and Ohio and a member of the Railroad and Electric Railway Historical Societies.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Ann Burke and Mary Ann Ferguson.
Tom is survived by his beloved companion, Mary Jane Mantor; sons, Thomas (Tracy) of Charlotte, NC and James of Bluffton, SC; his grandson, Michael (Celeste) of Troy, NY; his granddaughter, Jamie Marie of Bluffton, SC; and his sisters, Joan (Richard) Group of Grand Island, NY and Kathleen (Ken) Pearson of Sacramento, CA; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
An hour of visitation will be held on Thursday July 31, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse.
