Thomas V. Cappelletti's Obituary
Thomas V. Cappelletti, 83, of East Syracuse, NY passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2014. He was born in Syracuse on November 15, 1930 to the late Filomeno and Mary Frances (Posato) Cappelletti. Tom grew up on the North side of Syracuse and had many fond memories of time spent in activities at Schiller Park. For many years as a young man, he worked at Cicci’s Shoe Shop on Butternut Street. Tom graduated from North High School where he received All-City honors in football and basketball. Upon graduating from North High, he attended Manlius Military Academy where he was selected as the best all-around athlete at graduation. Tom received a football scholarship to attend Rutgers University and graduated in 1957. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ireland, on April 26, 1958. Tom was a loyal employee of Carrier Corporation where he worked for 36 years as an industrial engineer. As an avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren compete in all their sporting events. Tom was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary I. (Ireland) Cappelletti in 2001, brothers, Nicholas (Muriel) Cappelletti, Lawrence (Alice) Cappelletti, Cosmo (Gloria) Cappelletti, Jack Cappelletti; sisters, Loretta Cappelletti, Anna (Tony) Nappi; in-laws, Mary Cappelletti, Richard Lansing and Dom DeRegis.
Tom is survived by his daughters, Judy (Steve) Siechen of East Syracuse, NY and Marie (John) Cavanaugh of Jamesville, NY; his sons, Tom Cappelletti of Saratoga Springs, NY; Nick (Michelle) Cappelletti of Jamesville, NY and Larry (Pam) Cappelletti of Phoenix, AZ; 11 grandchildren, Stephanie and Steven Siechen; Cole and Alex Cappelletti; Tyler, Kayleigh and Julia Cavanaugh; Kyle and Cassie Cappelletti; Nicholas and Isabella Cappelletti; brothers, John Cappelletti, Frank (Joan) Cappelletti; sisters, Stella Lansing, Josephine DeRegis, Dolly (Pete) Asterino and sister-in-law, Vera Cappelletti .
A funeral service in celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
