Thomas D. Celentano's Obituary
Thomas D. Celentano, 90, of East Syracuse, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. He was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Pasquale and Carmella (DelMastro) Celentano. Tom served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a decorated veteran and former commander of DAV, Coonley-Nojaim, Chapter 30 from 1985 to 1986. Tom volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Syracuse. He was an avid coin and stamp collector. Tom enjoyed working with stained glass. He also liked to collect and fix clocks and was a Calligrapher. Tom loved to cook and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne (Rizzo) Celentano in 2002. Tom is survived by his children, Charles T. (Margaret) Celentano of Hannibal, NY, Rita (Richard) Fien of Canastota, NY and Judy C. (John) Endress of Binghamton, NY; 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joseph Celentano of New Jersey along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 9:00 am in St. Matthew's Church, East Syracuse. Entombment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, Dewitt. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Contributions may be made to the Voluntary Service, 135, 1507 or 1525, checks payable to the VA Medical Cener, 800 Irving Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13210.
