Thomas A. Clarke "Clarkey"'s Obituary
Thomas A. Clarke, “Clarkey”, 76, of Lafayette, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018 at Upstate Medical University Hospital in Syracuse, NY. He was born in Syracuse, son of the late James and Mildred Clarke. He was employed by Onondaga News Agency for over 40 years as a Delivery Driver. Tom was an avid bowler, hunter, and fisherman, and loved losing money in Las Vegas with his family and friends. He was well known for his staunch support of Syracuse’s basketball and football teams, as well as his ever-present sense of humor, even in his final moments.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sandra (Robbins) Clarke; two daughters, Kathryn Clarke Edwards of Mexico, NY and Sara A. Clark of Lafayette; five grandchildren, Jeremy M. Edwards, Alexandra Edwards, Anthony Edwards, Catrina Edwards and Micah Medovich; brother, Ronald Clarke; and sister-in-law, Cheryl Barber.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of 10E and 6H at Upstate Medical Center for their attentive care during Tom’s stay there, as well as the friends and extended family for their love and support.
A calling hour will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 from 10 – 11 am at Our Lady of Hope (formerly St. James Church), 4845 S. Salina St., Syracuse, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Thomas’ life, 11 am at church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Tom’s name can be made to Our Lady of Hope or Upstate Cancer Center.
