Thomas J. Fantacone's Obituary
Thomas J. Fantacone, 91, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10 at the VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Thomas was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Church choir for 30 years. He was employed by GE for over 40 years, served as an advisor with the Junior Achievement program, a little league coach, and belonged to various youth organizations, the Moose Club, and the VA organization. He was a proud veteran of WWII, Technician Fifth Grade medic with the seventh infantry division, and received the purple heart and the bronze star for bravery in combat.
He is predeceased by his father Anthony and mother Jennie (Paglia), his brother Dominick and his sisters Caroline, Henrietta, and Jennie.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary A. (Daino) Fantacone; five children, Jean M. (William) Reistrom (NJ) and her children, Erik, Michael, Patrick, Billy, John, and Kelly; Kathleen A. (Neil) Battelle (Syr) and her children, Ryan, Jessica, and Rene; Thomas A. (Debi) (NJ) and his daughter, Samantha; Mark J. (TX); Robert M. (Shawn) (Syr) and his children, Christopher, Joseph, Matthew, Daniel, and Jenny; two sisters, Carmella Archino (Syr) and Anna Valentine (Fla); and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Thomas’ life at 9:30 am at Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 1-4 pm on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
