Thomas J. Garofalo, Sr's Obituary
Thomas J. Garofalo, Sr., 92, of Mattydale, passed away peacefully on Tuesday. He was born in Syracuse, the son of the late John and Anna (Marnello) Garofalo. Thomas proudly served in the CB's and U.S. Navy during WWII. He was an honorable member of the Knights of Columbus. An avid Yankees fan, Thomas enjoyed woodworking and shared his crafts with many. He worked in construction, was an auto painter, barber and retired as a bus driver from the East Syracuse-Minoa school district. On January 16th he celebrated his 71st anniversary with the love of his life, Sarah along with their loving family. Thomas enjoyed fishing and spending time at the family camp and will be remembered for how much he loved his family.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Sarah (Crisafi) Garofalo; three sons, John (Saundra) Garofalo of Phoenix; Nicholas T. (Cheryl) Garofalo of Cicero and Thomas (Colleen) Garofalo, Jr. of Bridgeport; his daughter, Anne (Donald) Snyder of Brewerton; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Joseph (Connie) Garofalo of Mattydale; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog, "Sadie".
Please join the family for a funeral mass in celebration of Thomas' life on Friday, March 14, 2014 at 10:00 am in St. Margaret's Church, Mattydale. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Per Thomas' wishes, there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thomas' memory may be made to Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, 750 East Adams Street, Syracuse, NY 13210.
