Thomas J. Hanna's Obituary
Thomas J. Hanna, 71, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 19, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late William Jr. and Dorothy (Rossiter) Hanna. After attaining his master’s degree, Tom worked as a budget and cost analyst for Wellpoint Insurance for many years. He cherished time spent with his family and had a passion for the outdoors; often enjoying hiking, biking, running, and swimming. Tom also loved to travel, frequently camping and exploring new places.
Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha (Bullard) Hanna; his children, Kimberly (Jason) Rehm, Heather (Joseph) Zebrowski, Jeffrey Hanna, Johnathan (Kristin) Hanna, and Benjamin Hanna; his grandchildren, Hanna, Thomas, Austen, and Rylee Rehm, Adrianna and Emerson Zebrowski, and Nathan, Luke, Owen, Isaac, and Josiah Hanna; his brothers, William (Joanne) and Timothy Hanna; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Hospice of CNY and to all their friends and family who kept them in their prayers during this difficult time.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. A funeral service in celebration of Tom’s life will follow at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 25, 2025 in Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1700 Butternut St. Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Natural Heritage Trust for NYS Parks and Recreation at naturalheritagetrust.org/donate or to the Gethsemane United Methodist Church, 1700 Butternut St. Syracuse.
