Tony R. Wilkey's Obituary
Tony R. Wilkey, 54, of Liverpool, passed away Monday at the VA Medical Center after a seven year battle with ALS. Tony was a fighter and had a tremendous will to live. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Idar-Oberstein, Germany from 1980 until 1983. Tony retired from Harborside Manor of Liverpool after 19 ½ years of dedicated service. He had a great sense of humor and made everyone laugh. Tony enjoyed music, photography, fishing, cooking and flying kites with his family.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 20 ½ years, Janet L. (Krahl) Wilkey; his parents, Mary Ann Pierman and Raymond Wilkey, both of CA; four children, Matthew (Melinda), Kevin (Yvonne), Jeremiah and Jennifer; his beloved grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Kameron, Karson, Maddison, Marissa, Maddox, Leeland, Charles, Priscilla and George; his siblings, Angela Wilkey, Gary Wilkey, Timothy (Valery) Wilkey, Theresa (Eduardo) Wilkey, Karl (Sabrina) Wilkey, and Bobby (Kathy) Wilkey; his in-laws, Roger (Kathy) Krahl, Norma (Bill) McLean, Sandy (Curt) Tillman, Bill (Kim) Krahl, Belinda (Kenneth Holbdy) Arena, and Edward (Rani) Dotterer; his best friend, Brandy Pinette, along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service in celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 7, 2017 in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, and 11:00 AM in Buckley Road Baptist Church, Liverpool. Burial with Military Honors will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s name to Buckley Road Baptist Church, 4962 Buckley Rd., Liverpool, NY 13088.
