Trilby S. Hotaling's Obituary
Trilby S. Hotaling, 99, of Cicero, NY and formerly of Coxsackie, NY passed away on July 19, 2021. She was born in Norton, Kansas on December 17, 1921, the daughter of the late Charles and Palma Spickerman. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Frederick (Chip) Hotaling; her brother, Charles (Skip) Spickerman, Jr.; sister, Lydia Spickerman; her nephew, Wayne Spickerman, and her great granddaughter, Brynn Marie Levitsky.
Trilby graduated from Coxsackie High School in 1939 and married the love of her life, Frederick, on April 30, 1943. She was active in the local Civil Defense Corps during WWII. Trilby was the longest living charter member of the Coxsackie Columbiettes and a past president. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society; Church Choir; a lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Mary’s Church.
Trilby is survived by her children: Rick (Mary) Hotaling, Palma (Paul) Canniff, William (Heidi) Hotaling, and Linda (Ray) Banach. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kara (Brian) Levitsky, Paul (Meghan) Canniff, Bryan (Tiffany) Hotaling, Erik (Tricia) Hotaling, Kyle Hotaling, Jack, Sarah and Rachel Hotaling, Lyndsey (Ben) Caiella, Raymond III (Michele) Banach, and great grandchildren: Grace, Chase, Natalie, Charlotte, Reagan, Jackson, Addie, Bodhi, Vivienne and Tatum who was born on Sunday, July 18th the day before GG’s passing. Bringing to life Trilby’s faith in God; as she always told her family, “The Lord Giveth and the Lord Taketh Away” – Job 1:21.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at W.C. Brady’s Sons, Inc. Funeral Home, 97 Mansion St., Coxsackie, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 80 Mansion St., Coxsackie, NY. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Coxsackie, NY.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY in her memory and memory of her great granddaughter, Brynn Marie Levitsky.
