Una K. Zona's Obituary
Una K. Zona, 86, of Liverpool, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at Brookdale Summerfield surrounded by her loving family. Una was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late John C. and Una (Young) Kieffer, Sr.
A graduate of Oswego State University with a bachelor’s and Master’s in Education, she taught at Cazenovia School District prior to St. Rose of Lima in North Syracuse, NY. After college she enjoyed traveling to numerous destinations including Europe and Hawaii. Besides being an educator, Una was a loving stay at home mom raising her two children. She was a generous person and was active in the St. Rose Parish, in addition to donating to various charities. Una was a dedicated grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren. Later in life, she loved spending time with her husband at their summer home on Brantingham Lake and at their winter snowbird nest in Florida. Other interests include signing, playing piano and accordion and was a talented seamstress.
Along with her parents, Una was predeceased by her husband, Rudy in 2016, and her brother, John C. Kieffer Jr.
Una is survived by her son, Rudy (Elizabeth) Zona of Liverpool; daughter, Tanya (Nicholas) Zona-Woyciesjes of Fairport, NY; five grandchildren, Jacob, Ella, Alex, Arthur, and Nadia; along with many nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass in celebration of Una’s life will take place on Saturday July 3, 2021, at 10:30 am in St. Margaret’s Church, 203 Roxford Rd. North Syracuse. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Friday, July 2, 2021, at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
