Victoria A. (Farnach) Colozzi's Obituary
Victoria A. (Farnach) Colozzi of North Syracuse passed away on Sunday, March 22, 2015 at Menorah Park with her family by her side. Mrs. Colozzi was born in Newark, New York on April 27, 1923 to the late Bertha and Joseph A. Farnach. The family then moved to Canastota and attended Canastota Schools until she moved to Syracuse. She graduated from St. Vincent DePaul High School in 1940. She then attended Syracuse University. Victoria worked for William Zimmerman, a manufacturer’s representative, until she married Louis A. Colozzi, Sr., who passed away March 7, 1991. She was also predeceased by a son, Garry, who passed away in July of 1972; a sister Marianne in August, 1983; a brother Anthony in April 1999, and a brother Joseph in 2010.
Victoria was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in North Syracuse. She was room mother at St. Rose’s for several years; also belonged to the Mother’s Club at St. John the Baptist and C.B.A. where her sons attended high school. She was a member of the Most Holy Rosary Society and the Columbists of North Syracuse for many years. Victoria was a member of the Onondaga County Legal Secretaries Association, the advocate for Upstate Medical University, and volunteered to work in the gift shop for ten years; member of the Syracuse Symphony Board of Directors, member of A.A.R.P., member of the Lakeshore Country Club; member of the Republican National Committee; member of the C.S.E.A. Retired Association; member of the Pastime Club; member of the AFSCME Retirement Program; member of the Senior Citizens League; and a member of the Oneida Lake Association. She was also an avid bridge player and loved to knit for her sons and grandchildren.
Victoria was a secretary to Hon. Ormand N. Gale from 1966-1981, worked one year for the Assigned Counsel Program, which was a subsidiary of the Onondaga County Bar Association. In May, 1983, she was Secretary to Hon. William J. Burke until her retirement in December of 1996.
Survivors: four sons, Allen Paul Baker of Dallas, Texas; Gaetano L. Colozzi, Esq., of Syracuse; Robert E. Colozzi (Diane) of North Syracuse; Dr. Louis A. (MaryJo) Colozzi of Reading, PA; three brothers, Frank (Rosa) Farnach of Canastota; John (Suzie) Farnach of Florida; Samuel Farnach of Rome, New York; two sisters, Marie Farnach of Florida and Antonette (Nino) Panzica of Florida; eight grandchildren, Tracy Elizabeth, Desiree Amy (Chris), Michael Gaetano, Erin Mary, Melanie Elizabeth, Victoria Ann, Gaetano L. Jr., and Zachery Nathan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great grandchildren, Abby Elizabeth and Scarlett.
The family would like to thank the staff at Menorah Park for their loving and compassionate care during Victoria’s stay there.
Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Victoria’s life at 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
