Vincent Dominic Paratore 's Obituary
We are sad to announce that Vincent Dominic Paratore, 92, passed away quietly in his sleep on January 16, 2017. Born on the Northside to Jennie (Congel) and Anthony Paratore, he was a lifetime Syracuse resident. Of his siblings, Anthony, Peter, Joe and Roselyn, he was the third eldest of this close knit Italian family. Vinnie played football and baseball at North High, were he met his first wife, Amelia (Mimi) Salce. He went on to serve in the U.S. Coast Guard; after his Honorable Discharge, he worked at the family construction business. Vinnie then forged his own path by creating the Lyndovin Restaurant (named after his three children, Lynda, Dolores, and Vinnie). It was well known and became a Central New York dining and entertainment hotspot in the early 60’s.
Vinnie returned to the construction trades, where he worked well into his 80’s, as retirement was never part of his lifestyle plan. Vinnie enjoyed life to the fullest and always made you feel special whenever you were with him. To his kids, he always instilled the importance of family.
After a long and happy marriage to his second wife, Helen (Calo) Paratore, who passed away in 1992, he was also predeceased by his daughter Linda, and two brothers, Pete and Joseph.
Vinnie is survived by his daughter, Dolores (Tom) Cavallo of Liverpool; his son, Vinnie (Val) of San Francisco; grandchildren, Lorrie (Brian) Gibbons, Paul (Megan) Thompson, Ian and Rose Paratore; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Carlie, Clara, Jake and Ryan; his sister, Rose Canale; his brother, Joe Paratore, along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, immediately followed by a funeral service in celebration of Vinnie’s life at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Private burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
The family wants to thank the staff on A-South at James Square Nursing Home for the
compassionate care given to our Dad.
