Vincent P. Stala's Obituary
Vincent P. Stala, 82, of Liverpool, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Aliquippa, PA and grew up in the Syracuse area, graduating from Eastwood High School. Vince served with the U.S. Navy, and played 3rd base on the naval baseball team. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1991 after 34 years of service. He then went on to work part-time at ADP, retiring in 2002. Vince was a member of the IAAC-Italian American Athletic Club, Holy Name Society at Our Lady of Pompei/St. Peter Church, and was a parishioner of Christ the King Church in Bayberry. He was an avid golfer, bowler, NY Yankees fan, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Vince looked forward to his trips to the casino and enjoyed playing cards with dear friends. He loved to travel and most importantly, loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his father, Jack; his mother, Fannie, and brother, Dom.
Vince is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rita (O’Brien) Stala; his two sons, Michael (Laurie) Stala and Tom Stala; his daughter, Patricia (Michael) Zingaro; three grandchildren, Nicholas Zingaro, Jacki Stala, and Brandon Stala; his brother, Raymond (Grace) Stala; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Carolyn Bell; along with several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Funeral Mass in celebration of Vince’s life at 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, Bayberry. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the funeral home, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY.
