Vincent J. Vecchio's Obituary
Vincent J. Vecchio, 87,of Liverpool, passed away on Friday at the Francis House. He was born on March 15, 1924 in Manhattan, NY to Carmello and Rosa (Gulisano) Vecchio. He served in World War II at Horham Air Base in England from February 1943 to November 1945. While serving in the US Army Air Force, he met and married Alma L. (Taylor) Vecchio on May 12, 1945. He worked for General Electric as a draftsman for 38 years before retiring in January, 1985. He was an avid sports fan and was a coach and loyal supporter of his three son's sporting events. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening, bowling, winemaking and spending time with his beloved family. He also was a member of the Salina Senior Citizens Club and a parishioner at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Alma, who died in 2003; his parents and sister, Rocchina Vecchio Kaylor. He is survived by daughters, Jennifer (Don) Pullano of Philadelphia, PA, Roseanne (James) Exner of Cicero; sons, John Vecchio of Tampa FL, Carmen (Nancy) Vecchio of Chadds Ford, PA and Gary (Marla) Vecchio of Marlton, NJ; 14 grandchildren, Kristine Exner Speers, Jeffry Exner, Tracey Exner Unger, Jason Exner, Don Pullano, Michael Pullano, Angela Vecchio Hunger, Nicholas Vecchio, Michelle Vecchio Rice, Lisa Vecchio, Nicole Vecchio, Alexa Vecchio, Justin Vecchio & Sarah Vecchio; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Roger Vecchio of Solvay and several nieces, nephews and many family members in England. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 8:30 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) N. Syracuse and 9:30 am in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Liverpool. Entombment will follow in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4 to 7 pm. Donations in Vincent's memory may be made to the Francis House, 108 Michael's Ave., Syracuse, NY 13208.
