Vinnie E. Dempski's Obituary
Vinnie E. Dempski passed away at the age of 96 at St. Joseph’s Hospital with family by her side.
Vinnie was born and raised in Syracuse where she attended and graduated from Syracuse University. She and her husband, Harold T. Dempski, lived in several cities including Pittsburgh, Baltimore, and Sebastian, FL. Vinnie retired from Corning, Inc. in Pittsburgh as an executive assistant.
Following her husband’s passing, Vinnie returned to Syracuse in 1987 to be closer to her family and many friends with whom she cherished spending time with. Vinnie was very active in her community and her parish, St. Mary’s Church of Baldwinsville, where she was a communicant and volunteer. A few of her many activities included China painting, bridge and mahjong, prayer groups, and traveling with senior groups. An avid reader, Vinnie loved the Baldwinsville library.
Vinnie was predeceased by her parents, Angela (Scuderi) and Joseph Vassallo; her beloved husband, Harold T. Dempski; her brothers, Carmen, Joe and Sam Vassallo; and her sisters, Annie Vassallo and Bettina (Vassallo) Crupe.
Vinnie is survived by her nephews, Carmen and his wife, Sylvia (Carni) Crupe, Richard Crupe and Donald (and his wife, Theresa) Vassallo; her nieces, Angela (Vassallo) Loden; Paula (Vassallo) Scureman; Shirley (and her husband, Joseph) Scripa and Anita Vassallo along with several cousins, great nieces, and great nephews.
A Catholic funeral mass celebrating Vinnie's life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 10 am at St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church, 47 Syracuse Street, Baldwinsville, NY. THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME is handling local arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church.
