Virginia M. (DeSalvo) Aloi's Obituary
Virginia M. (DeSalvo) Aloi, 101, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Syracuse to the late Patsy and Mary DeSalvo and worked for many years at the Julius Resnick Pocketbook Factory as well as Continental Can Company. Virginia was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Daniel Church in Lyncourt as well as an avid SU basketball fan. Family was most important to her, always putting their well-being ahead of her own.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Carmen in 1990; grandson, Thomas Brennan; great-granddaughters, Gina Franks and Jamie Lynn Kotas; siblings, Frances DeSalvo, Mary Donzella, Margaret Molella, Genevieve Sansone, Albert DeSalvo, Josephine DiGregorio and John DeSalvo.
Virginia is survived by her children, Marie Somers, of North Syracuse and Peter (Jackie) Aloi, of Syracuse; grandchildren, Linda (Scott) Franks, Patrick (Sue) Brennan, Michael (Marie) Brennan, Rachelle (Brian) Kotas, Pete (Jill) Aloi and Stephen Somers; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Anthony DeSalvo; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice of CNY for the compassionate care given to Virginia.
A private funeral service in celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at the convenience of the family. She will be laid to rest in Assumption Cemetery.
