Virginia A. Carno's Obituary
Virginia Ann (Haas) Carno, 82, of North Syracuse (formerly of Manlius), passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was a life resident of the Syracuse area and graduated from Eastwood High. Ginny or Ma, as she was often referred to, was the backbone of James Street Lanes with her husband, Mike, for many years. In addition, Ginny worked for Basile Construction while also working part-time for Wegmans.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael A. Carno, her parents, Mildred and Arthur Haas, brother, Raymond Haas and sisters, Leah Spera and Dorie Roder.
She is survived by her children, Michael F. Carno (Pamela) of Baldwinsville, Robert A Carno (Laura) of Summerville, SC, and JoAnne Carno of Syracuse: grandchildren, Michael R. Carno, Theresa Carno, Anthony Carno (Sumaita Hussain), Alessandra Dernbach (Matthew) and Vincent Carno (Hannah Williams); brother, Norman Haas, sister, Pat Sardella, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and many friends.
A calling hour will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, from 8 A.M. – 9 A.M. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse. A funeral Mass in celebration of Virginia’s life will follow at 10:00 A.M. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 409 N. Main St., North Syracuse. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Assumption Cemetery.
