Vito D. Vespari's Obituary
Vito D. Vespari, 63, of Liverpool, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, January 20, 2014. He was born in Catanzaro, Italy, the son of the late Antonio Vespari and Maria Caterina Spadea. Vito immigrated to the United States with his family in 1977. He worked many years in the construction industry with the Laborers Local 433 and was employed for 10 years with New Process Gear. Vito was a very generous and loving person who lived his life for his family, especially his children and grandchildren, always putting them first. He cherished them so much and looked forward each week to his Sunday family dinners. Vito also enjoyed playing Bocce, gardening with his wife, a good game of Briscola, and making his delicious "Vino".
He was predeceased by his mother and father-in-law, Teodoro Santaguida and Maristella Battaglia; his sister-in-law, Carmela Trino and brother-in-law, Antonio Barbuto.
Vito is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Concetta (Santaguida) Vespari; three daughters, Maria (Mark) Borte of North Syracuse; Stella (Nicholas) Wendt of Cicero and Josephine (Michael) Murphy of Clay; his son, Antonio Vespari of Liverpool; five grandchildren, Isabella, Mirella and Donatella Borte, Joseph Vito and Michael Anthony Murphy; two brothers, Maurizio (Antonella) Vespari of Soverato, Italy and Pino (Marisa) Vespari of Modena, Italy; a sister, Rosalba (Andrea) Carioti of Soverato, Italy; a sister-in-law, Giovanna Barbuto of Liverpool and brothers-in-law, Giuseppe (Angela) Santaguida of North Syracuse; Francesco Santaguida, Cosmino (Concetta) Santaguida and Umberto (Stefania) Santaguida, all of Italy, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Vito's family would like to thank all of the amazing, loving nurses and doctors who cared for Vito, especially Dr. Richard Cherney, in the 4 South Oncology Unit at Crouse Hospital for their unending love and support.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 am in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME and 10:00 am in St. Rose of Lima Church, where a funeral mass will be celebrated. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery and Mausoleum, Baldwinsville. Family and friends may call at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd. (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY on Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
